ESPN College Game Day Fan Advisory

Virginia Tech will host Duke on Feb. 26, 2011, in Cassell Coliseum and the crew from ESPN College GameDay, Driven by State Farm will be on hand for a full day of college basketball excitement. Admission is free to attend the ESPN College GameDay broadcast. All seating will be general admission and doors on the North and West sides of Cassell Coliseum will open at 8:30 a.m. The live national broadcast begins airing at 10 a.m.

Below is pertinent information for all fans planning to attend College GameDay:

Parking:
  • Season Ticket holders with valid parking passes for the men’s basketball season will be allowed to park in their designated lot.
  • All other fans should park in the Chicken Hill Lot. A free shuttle will be available to service fans to and from Cassell Coliseum beginning at 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
  • On-campus students are encouraged to walk to Cassell to avoid parking issues.

Concessions:
  • A limited number of concession stands will be open for College GameDay

Banners and Signs:
  • Fans will be allowed to bring banners, signs and flags to the College GameDay broadcast but all items will be screened prior to entering Cassell Coliseum. Due to athletics department policy, these items will not be permitted for the actual game later that evening.
  • The Athletics Department will be holding a Poster-Making Party on Friday from 5-7 p.m. in the lobby of Cassell Coliseum. Free pizza will be provided and Coach Greenberg will make an appearance. The event is open and free for all fans. Posters and markers will be provided and fans are also encouraged to bring their own supplies.

ADA Accomodations:
  • The same ADA policy for home basketball games will be in effect for patrons needing special assisted seating options. Fans should enter through the Merryman Athletic Center and follow the signs leading to the floor of Cassell Coliseum to be seated.

Below is a list of all events taking place Feb. 26 on campus. Admission is free to all events except the basketball game where tickets are sold out. For a full list of promotions scheduled for each event, visit the promotions page at www.hokiesports.com/promotions.

  • ESPN College GameDay – doors open at 8:30 a.m., broadcast airs from 10 a.m. to Noon
  • Men’s Tennis vs. Boston College @ 10:30 a.m., Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center
  • Baseball vs. Niagara (DH) @ 1 p.m., English Field
  • Lacrosse vs. George Mason @ 1 p.m., Thompson Field
  • ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Rector Field House
  • Men’s Basketball vs. Duke @ 9 p.m., Cassell Coliseum, MAROON MONSOON


Please advised due to the large amount of traffic expected on campus, fans should plan to arrive early and use patience.
